construction of door leaves

Leaf construction

A honeycomb core construction can provide fire protection for up to 240 minutes and a mineral wool core can give up to 120 minutes protection yet with higher acoustic performance (up to 35 RwdB sound reduction). Core construction is determined by performance of doorset specified.

Mineral core

The void between the two skins is filled with mineral wool which has an open fibrous structure making it ideal for absorbing and regulating noise as well as having fire resistant qualities built-in. Mineral wool products reduce ear-deafening noise from machines or the activities of people, and provide ambient situations that allow normal conversation. Reinforcing pads are fitted within the leaf to suit hardware options.

Honeycomb core

The void between the two skins is filled with a bonded honeycomb core material. Honeycomb core materials are used because of their fire resistance and energy absorption properties and their ability to sustain compressive loading while being crushed. Reinforcing pads are fitted within the leaf to suit hardware options.
